Day 275 – The Puzzle – Pressure Builds Diamonds Right, But It Can Also Destroy Them

I thought I knew the answer, but I googled it anyway.

Google, “What Happens To A Diamond If It Gets Too Much Pressure?”

Answer = It breaks. Diamonds have a very sound crystal structure, which lends them their hardness but are not very strong. If you apply a lot of pressure to it, it will break.

They also say that under too much pressure, Diamonds can transform into another form of Carbon.

So, you’re probably asking yourself, “What is MP talking about?”

I’m talking about you and me. We are Diamonds, but we’re also our own worst enemies when it comes to mining ourselves.

Today, I landed in Orlando for a 3-day vacation to watch my daughter cheer in her 12th National Championship, 5th as a college cheerleader.  My mind has never been this free of stress or worry.  As I reflect on the past few years, it’s been TOUGH!  But what’s been tough is me, on me.  I’ve beaten myself up too much and expected to be somewhere I don’t deserve to be too soon.

As Kanye says below, “We’re at war with ourselves.”  This could be taken in many ways, but I take it to mean WE, as in ME AND YOU, are fighting a losing battle between our ears and our minds.

We are our own worst enemies.

Looking back on the past two years, I put too much pressure on myself.  I kept looking at where I knew we could be 3-5 years from now and thought we needed to do it faster.  That extra pressure I put on myself certainly caused issues, and honestly, it brought on more roadblocks for our business.

So, I think it’s important for all of us to remember that unusual pressure will create diamonds, but too much will for sure crack us.
