XERO-LEVEL INBOX ACHIEVED
At least for a few days now 🙂
Email marketing is a great tool that you should be using for your restaurant marketing plan, BUT it’s not a tool you should be drowning in. If you’re like many people, you have an email inbox with all sorts of stuff. For the past 3-5 years, I thought I was doing it right by only having 10-20 emails in my inbox and 10-20 starred emails.
I thought that was pretty good, but then I realized how I was using my email as a place to park my to-do list, which was not very efficient; in fact, it was the opposite.
A few weeks ago, I saw a post by a friend of mine where she mentioned that she had ended her days with an empty inbox, XERO-LEVEL INBOX. I thought, “No way could I ever do that.” And then, one day, I was looking through my emails, and I realized the stress it was causing me to see the emails sit in there daily. I also realized that many things went there to die.
So, I said, “SCREW IT.”
We’ve used a tool, Asana, for many years to run our business. It’s a project management tool built to keep up with daily tasks and repetitive items. As I looked at Asana and how I used it a long time ago while training my team, I realized I needed to use it instead of email and endless notepads.
Yes, I said endless notepads; sound familiar? Every few weeks, I would sort through chicken scratch on one of many pieces of paper and notepads on my desk.
The chaos had to end, so with that, I built out my “to-do” board in Asana and started rocking.
Stay tuned to see how I navigate this and hack it. I’m sure I can find an AI BOT to help optimize my inbox and add things automatically to Asana, heck I can probably even train it to reply to people….HMMMMM.
