Day 289 – The Puzzle – How Can I Learn To Charish Every Day For The Gift It Is?

Sometimes, we must remind ourselves how lucky we are and how great things are going.

HOW YOU’RE KILLIN’ IT!

Driving home this week, I wondered, “Why can’t I just enjoy this journey? Why do I have to work like the world is ending tomorrow and stress like we are going out of business next week if things don’t go as planned?”

As I got home, I started to unpack those feelings. It seems easy, you know, to live in the moment, to be happy about where you are now, and not worry about the “what ifs.”  But it’s honestly not.

That got me thinking about my bigger stressors and what would happen if they magically disappeared. I wondered what I would focus on and how that might impact my days.

I asked myself, “If you had $1 million in the company savings account, what would you spend your days focusing on?”

It turned out to be a more challenging question than I could answer. I started by writing down the issues on my mind daily, 90% of which revolved around money. As I listed the tweaks I’d make and the problems I’d solve, I realized they all would fix today’s two main issues: money and cash flow.

This made me realize I needed to start thinking with the end in mind. I needed to work backward.  But it also reminded me to CHILL OUT.  To not try and get where we would be in 5 years TODAY.  To breathe and accept that journeys like this take a long time, and if I worry about not being where I want to be, I’ll never work on what it takes to get there.
