Day 296 – The Puzzle – This Restaurant Asked In-Store & Bribed Me!

TThat’s Millie, and she shocked me today.

Sitting atop Whistler Ski Resort in Canada in a restaurant off the ski slopes, having lunch with a client who drove up from Vancouver, I was hit with a question and bribe that captured my heart.

“Are you enjoying your visit to Rendevous? We’d love your feedback. Scan this QR code (a giant notebook-sized one) and show me the final screen showing you completed the survey. Then, I’ll give you a free dessert.”

You know, I jumped all over that and scanned the code. Once we did, we received a brief survey, and then she went and got our dessert of choice.

I always preach about having meaningful conversations with customers inside your four walls and using “ethical bribes” like free food to get what you want.  In this case, the resort wanted to know how the lodge dining was and how they could improve it.  It was about 10 simple questions, and that was it.  I can see why they didn’t ask for our info since they already have it since every lift ticket is digital now, they simply need to know how to deliver the best experience on the mountain.

I can tell you one thing for certain: If she had not asked and offered a bribe, I would have had ZERO % chance of doing that on my own.

Great job, Millie and Whistler.
