Six weeks ago, we started a weekly email called “MPs Minute.” I stole the idea from Alex Hormozi. I love the idea—a quick read that leaves you thinking.
But, MP didn’t write those, my team did and that’s bullshit.
I don’t know why I didn’t write it. That was the game plan, and then one of my team members took the ball and ran. And to be honest, he did a solid job.
From now on, I’ll be writing this email every week. Here’s my weekly promise: I’ll include one actionable piece of advice, a song to listen to, and a book that I’ve enjoyed.
In 52 weeks, you’ll have a knowledge, music, and reading library for the ages.
So this week we started over. This is MP, and this week’s message is about self-belief and authenticity.
Let’s get started…
Last week, an email reply from one of you stood out.
WHY? It threw some hate my way, and I freaking love emails like this.
The email said, “Work on your message. It doesn’t work that anyway”.
And, that’s not a typo, that’s how he typed it. My first thought was how pissed my wife would be by the grammar 🙂 and then my mind shifted to wonder what he was talking about.
I knew that if I responded, I’d get some crazy response from someone making assumptions about my company, and I was spot on. But, I was in between sets at the gym and thought “let’s have some fun.”
I figured that, worst case, I would get to mess with someone. In the best-case scenario, I would get a solid podcast topic.
The latter came true. One of his comments was that I shouldn’t cuss in my content.
So, my friends led me to today’s topic. Here are the two tips I want you to take from this story.
1st – ALWAYS be yourself. Why do I occasionally cuss on video, podcast, or stage? BECAUSE that’s me, I cuss in real life, and I’m a firm believer that your brand should be authentic. You should always stay true to yourself and be who you are everywhere. In 2025, we should all create content that reflects who we are.
2nd—Don’t take haters seriously. Learn to easily delete and move on, and understand that when you enter a stupid conversation, you should be ready for stupid shit to happen. We all want to reply and try to convince people they are wrong, and that’s about as successful as converting a friend on Facebook to a different political party. People throwing shade and their two cents into the ring aren’t worth the stress, and it’s too easy to fall prey to their tactics.
In conclusion, here’s the song and book of the week
